How to Make the Perfect Matcha Latte at Home

Matcha latte has become a favorite beverage among health drink enthusiasts around the world. If you want to enjoy this delicious and nutritious drink at home, follow our simple steps for preparing the perfect matcha latte.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder (approximately 5 grams)
  • 60 ml hot water (approximately 80°C)
  • 270 ml milk (cow’s, almond, soy, oat, or any other milk of your choice)
  • Optional: sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave, or sugar)

Preparation Instructions:

Prepare the matcha powder: Place 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a small bowl or cup. Optionally, you can sift the matcha powder through a fine sieve to remove any lumps.

Add hot water: Pour 60 ml of hot water (approximately 80°C) into the matcha powder. The water shouldn’t be too hot to preserve the delicate flavors of matcha.

Whisking: Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk to vigorously blend the matcha and water. Whisk in a circular motion until you achieve a smooth, frothy consistency without any lumps.

Heat the milk: Heat 270 ml of milk in a small saucepan on the stove or in the microwave until hot, but not boiling. Optionally, you can use a milk frother to create a rich foam.

Combine: Pour the matcha base into a larger cup (approximately 330 ml). Slowly add the heated milk over the matcha base, reserving the foam for the top.

Add sweetener: Optionally, add your sweetener of choice. Stir gently to evenly distribute the flavor.
